FIRST CLASS PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
The first Rotary meeting last week for 2013-2014 was a good start.
I hope this is not because of the bday celebrations of Papa Ver Farcon and
yours truly but because we always look forward to Rotary meetings on Thursdays.
I hope to see our other members who have not attended lately with special
mention to TRF Director, PP Jimmy Ortigas, PP EG Lim, Rotarian Ompong Ordanes
and PP Noel Mesina. as the saying goes, " Absence makes the heart go
fonder "
I would like to thank our dear PDG Pepe Peralta and AG Gina Sanchez for being the " First Donors of TRF " This is truly " Engaging and Leading Rotary" We hope that our other generous Rotary members who made their commitment for TRF will do the same on our Induction Night.
We would like to acknowledge Our Club Service Director FDG Benny
Pe for continuing the signature project of RCSJ " Wow City Harvest"
The first donations of frozen meat, sandwiches, etc will serve as our "
good luck" for this year. Thank you too to IPP Jojo and Sec PP Jovy for
taking charge to get the donations.
The presence of our partner Interact and Rotaract officers for the new Rotary year is also good news. When the Presidents were given the chance to mention a few of their club plans, they were very candid and personal in voicing out their requests to RCSJ. We will take note and see how we will be able to help them in our own little way thus, changing and improving the communities we serve.

I am glad to know that majority of our members are starting to view our "E bulletin for RCSJ" and getting involved by posting their different views on certain aspects like club administration, invitation of guest speakers, topics for discussion etc. Thanks to Sec. Jovy for the "techie contribution" to the Club. To those who pledged to continue their support to our weekly bulletin thank you for your generosity.
Engage Rotary... Change lives!

The re-scheduled Induction of new members happens today! We
hope the inductees show up. They are Nani Madrasto, Gigi Rodriguez, and Sam
Allege. AG Gina Sanchez will again set-up her materials for ‘Charging’ the
candidates for membership.
PE Rose Caoc will also submit to AG Rueben Jarvina a
hard-copy of our Club’s 2013-14 Plans and Programs as required for our coming
Governor’s Visit on July 25. We hope all members have had their new uniforms
made already.
Momentum is underway in our campaign to get at least 100
attendees for our October 12 Financial Literacy Seminar. We have made our
‘sales pitch’ last week in the presence of visiting Rotarians PDG Jun Farcon, CP Manny Reyes, and PP Rick Yu in the
hope that they will help us endorse our seminar to fellow members in their
respective Rotary Clubs.
Thank you Pres. Tehrese Montecer and Papa Ver Farcon for last week’s birthday blow-out.
IPP Jojo Bacarro and I attended to the Wow City Harvest
Project last Thursday where we picked-up bread and frozen meat from FDG Benny
Pe’s residence and delivered the bread to the DSWD of San Juan City. The meats
were temporarily stored in San Juan City Mayor’s freezer.
Wanted Sponsors! Our Weekly Pinaglabanan Bulletin is still
“nude” and needs a cover. We need advertisers (sponsors) to defray cost of
printing one-year’s supply of bulletin covers. Please help.
Cheers and enjoy Rotary J

New RI
President Ron Burton has a beautiful message in the opening month of his term.
It is well written obviously emanating from good thoughts. It is suggested
every member read the message as published in last week’s issue of the
Pinaglabanan Bulletin. It may be worthwhile for it to be republished in the
bulletin on July 25 when the District Governor visits and graces our Induction
meeting.
The other
ideas proposed herein refers to two items of the Presidential Citation Program
under the subsection Additional Activities falling under Promote Membership Growth, thusly :
- Adopt a program for the leadership development of all members ......;
- Encourage member engagement by ensuring that every member has
participated in at least one service activity and one club social activity.
- Adopt a program for the leadership development of all members ......;
- Encourage member engagement by ensuring that every member has
participated in at least one service activity and one club social activity.
The above items
are not new challenges. Thus they are pointed out not because the Club has not
done anything in these directions. Actually these have been done unconsciously
and at random The leadership development objective is one which deserves
positive action. It used to be that presidents had serve as an officer as
treasurer, secretary, or vice president or as avenue director. That way the
president as he assumes office has good inkling of what needs to be done and
which member to appoint for a particular committee or project. As it is now,
the immediate past presidents pulls the incumbent through the new term.
Theoretically, the immediate past president looks at the following RY as
‘restful” or move on to have district affairs responsibilities.
The other
concern is equally worth looking at closely. By implementing this approach, it
presents the new member opportunity to know better the running of projects and
therefore moves towards being a club leader.
The other benefit for the new member is to imbibe in the fellowship of
the club especially now that it is as strong as ever. A listing of members
needing to be exposed in at least one service activity and social activity is
recommended and then monitored.. This is
another and effective way for members to feel part of the group and not just through
fulfilling their financial obligations and attendance requirements.
